HISTORY
Liborina Habitat Bank
The Tropical Dry Forest Habitat Bank is the result of a transformative vision led by Mauricio Montoya and his family, who decided to make a radical shift in the use of their properties in the municipality of Liborina, Antioquia. For over 80 years, these lands were utilized for livestock farming and agriculture. However, it became increasingly clear that these traditional practices were not only economically unviable but also detrimental to the ecosystem. Livestock farming eroded the soils and depleted the region's natural resources, prompting Mauricio and his family to rethink the future of their land.
Thus was born the Habitat Bank, an initiative dedicated to the restoration and conservation of the Tropical Dry Forest, one of the most fragile and threatened ecosystems in Colombia. With the support of Terrasos and a long-term vision for transformation, the property has been transformed into a space for preservation and restoration efforts. This allows for the study of native flora and fauna, where conservation remains a top priority.
