HISTORY
La Lope Habitat Bank
The Habitat Bank consists of two properties that have historically been used for livestock farming for over 40 years. Management of these areas was conducted through traditional practices linked to the indigenous culture of the region, without delimitation or rotation of pastures. As a result, cattle roamed freely across all the areas that make up the Habitat Bank, including the most conserved sections, primarily impacting the understory and the regeneration of various species. However, thanks to the establishment of the Habitat Bank and the owners' commitment to conservation, livestock farming is no longer practiced, which aids in the recovery of vegetation cover. This is particularly important given that the Tropical Dry Forest is considered the most threatened ecosystem in the Neotropics due to its low representation.
