About Us

Terrasos was founded in 2013 by Mariana Sarmiento Aparicio with the vision of driving meaningful change in Colombia’s social, economic, and environmental development. From the outset, the organization has focused on developing environmental protection strategies that engage all sectors of civil society, fostering an inclusive and sustainable approach to territorial management.

In 2016, following the implementation of Decree 2099, Terrasos became a pioneer in the creation of Habitat Banks in Colombia and Latin America, launching its first initiative in the Metica River sub-basin, Meta. This project marked the beginning of a transformative path, enabling the conservation of over 600 hectares while generating positive social and economic impacts in the region.

Today, Terrasos remains at the forefront of environmental investments, protecting more than 6,950 hectares across Colombia and establishing itself as a regional leader in sustainability and biodiversity conservation.
