HISTORY

El Meta Habitat Bank

El Meta Habitat Bank emerged from the interests of the property owners and Terrasos to create an innovative project that generates impact and profit through conservation. Thus, the first Habitat Bank in Latin America was established in the heart of the country, specifically within one of the first four reserves recognized for enhancing the voluntary conservation process on private properties.

Conservation activities have been conducted in this location for 30 years, which is crucial given its position at the confluence of a megadiverse area like the Amazon region and the mountainous regions of the central Andes and northern Colombia.

This location creates a unique area in the country, hosting a wealth of biodiversity while also facing threats from livestock farming, agricultural practices, and mining activities, particularly the extraction of crude oil and gas.
