Terrasos Advances in Its Mission to Conserve Life: The Aguadulce Habitat Bank Achieves Its First Ecological Milestone
Terrasos celebrates a significant achievement in biodiversity conservation in Colombia. The Aguadulce Habitat Bank in the Sumapaz River region has reached its first milestone in management and ecological results. This accomplishment has been validated through independent verification by KPMG (a global professional services firm specializing in audit, legal, and fiscal advisory) and is now registered on Regen Network, a blockchain-based platform that enables the purchase and sale of high-integrity carbon and biodiversity credits, ensuring traceability and transparency from registration to verification and redemption.
Located in the municipality of Nilo, Cundinamarca, the Aguadulce Habitat Bank conserves a mosaic of ecosystems, with a special emphasis on the tropical dry forest, one of the most endangered ecosystems in Colombia, and the premontane wet forest. Aguadulce protects 124 hectares, of which 93.59 hectares are dedicated to preservation and 21.4 hectares to active restoration, contributing to climate change mitigation through the capture of greenhouse gases and the protection of water resources such as the La Honda and San José streams and the Sumapaz River.
“Having a Habitat Bank of this magnitude so close to Bogotá is an extraordinary opportunity and demonstrates that it is indeed possible to develop high-impact ecological and social natural infrastructure, even in transformed areas. This milestone not only validates the technical integrity of the model but also inspires us to continue connecting businesses, nature, and communities under a regenerative vision”, stated Mariana Sarmiento, CEO of Terrasos.

It is a firm step toward a future in which conservation is not just a goal, but a concrete action with measurable impacts.
