Tebu: the smart investment.

Discover Terrasos' latest innovation, a dedication to the preservation of our most valuable asset: biodiversity.

What is a Tebu?

A Tebu is a biodiversity unit or credit equivalent to a 10 m² area allocated for 30 years for the conservation and restoration of ecosystems within Terrasos habitat banks. The Tebu represents an innovative and voluntary approach to contributing to biodiversity and ecosystem service conservation. It offers a means of making an environmental investment and supporting a sustainable future. By acquiring a Tebu, you can guarantee the preservation of vital ecosystems, benefiting local communities, endangered species, and ecosystem services for at least three decades.

To understand what a Tebu is, it is important to know...

What is a voluntary biodiversity credit?

A Voluntary Biodiversity Credit is a tool that enables individuals and companies to contribute to the preservation and restoration of biodiversity. These credits represent concrete conservation achievements that facilitate an increase in biodiversity in a specified area, such as a habitat bank. It is a tool for developing natural infrastructure that mitigates the adverse effects on the planet and the environment. The objective is to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and life.

What is a habitat bank?

A habitat bank is a specialized entity that preserves and protects specific areas of land where diverse communities of plants and animals thrive. Rather than storing financial assets, these banks store land, which is divided into smaller units when Biodiversity Credits are created. These units can then be purchased by individuals or companies interested in contributing to biodiversity conservation.

What is a token?

A token is a unique digital asset. It is a digital token that cannot be copied or counterfeited and is registered with a specific owner on a blockchain, also known as a distributed ledger. This technology functions as a large digital ledger that guarantees the ownership and individuality of each token and records all transactions so that they are verifiable, secure, and transparent.

What is a Tebu®?

The Biodiversity Unit of Terrasos is an initiative that combines the concept of Biodiversity Credits with blockchain technology. We have developed a system, Tebu®, which represents tangible conservation achievements in a protected land area. Tebu® are purchased as tokens on a blockchain, which means that each unit is unique and immutable. This guarantees its authenticity, allows its origin and history to be traced transparently and securely, and prevents any instances of double-selling. We would like to clarify that our system is not a carbon token.

How and why to acquire a Tebu?

In this link, you can access a page to purchase one, or several Tebu.

Biodiversity loss represents one of the most significant challenges currently facing the global community. It is a problem that requires innovative solutions. Tebu are an effective way to contribute to the protection of ecosystems vital to the survival of thousands of species of flora and fauna. The acquisition of a Tebu guarantees the long-term protection of ecosystems, thus creating a tangible impact on biodiversity. Biodiversity units protect the ecosystem services on which the balance of our planet depends, in addition to creating a foundation for a sustainable future.

Tebu's operations create employment opportunities based on biodiversity protection and generate sustainable well-being in local communities, which are key to ecosystem protection.

Acquiring a Tebu allows companies to strengthen their corporate sustainability strategy, generating positive and concrete impacts on biodiversity. Furthermore, the purchase of a Tebu can be linked to a product with sustainable attributes. The acquisition of these biodiversity units offers investors a competitive advantage, as well as access to more favorable financing. Additionally, Tebu contribute to the fulfillment of international goals such as the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Investing in Tebu also positions your company as a leader in biodiversity conservation.

Who can acquire a Tebu?

Any organization, company, or individual may purchase one or more Tebu, thereby committing to the preservation and restoration of Colombia's threatened ecosystems for a period of 30 years.

What do I receive when I purchase a Tebu?

Upon purchase of these Biodiversity Units, both companies and individuals will receive a personalized certificate with a unique blockchain serial code identifying the Tebu(s) purchased. Additionally, they will be informed of the project's progress through bimonthly and annual reports.

Companies will receive a communications kit with general information about Tebu, an environmental calendar with key communication messages, key project information and audiovisual material.

How does Tebu work?

At Terrasos, we are committed to a rigorous and transparent process for the Tebu. To ensure the best results in our projects, we carry out different phases. The first step is for Terrasos, in collaboration with the local communities, to secure the areas designated for conservation for a period of 30 years. This ensures that the legal conditions are in place to limit the use of the land to activities related to preservation and restoration. Subsequently, the project is registered with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, thereby ensuring the requisite technical, legal, and financial conditions for designation as a Habitat Bank. During this process, we ensure that the conditions are in place to enable us to carry out preservation and restoration activities in collaboration with the local communities. Then, in collaboration with universities with expertise in biodiversity, key indicators are monitored on an ongoing basis to demonstrate quantifiable gains in biodiversity. Subsequently, an external auditor verifies the ecological and management milestones of the project, thereby ensuring the principle of payment by results and the issuance of the Tebu to the market. Finally, Tebu are obtained containing a register with blockchain technology, thereby ensuring the traceability, transparency, and rigor of all the information associated with the biodiversity units. This information can be consulted in the public registries of Biotrust and Regen Network.

Thus, for 30 years, Terrasos is committed to take care of its investment through the most thorough biodiversity monitoring, protecting the most important ecosystems for human survival.
