To make voluntary biodiversity credits (biocredits) work for nature and its custodians, we need to step out of the carbon credit framing for both technical, social and practical reasons.

The Cesar Tropical Dry Forest Habitat Bank protects 825 hectares of one of the most fragile and threatened ecosystems in Colombia

Bogota DC, November 12/2021.On October 7, 2021, before the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, the registry of the Habitat Bank of Cesar was carried out, which is located in the Caribbean region, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. This Habitat Bank is one of the last remnants of the tropical dry forest and is made up of two strategic areas in the city of Valledupar and in the municipality of El Copey, to allow the conservation of birds, plants and mammals that today are in danger from ecosystem fragmentation.
